How to go from a Try Diver to a PADI Scuba Diver

How to go from a Try Diver to a PADI Scuba Diver

So, you’ve done a Try Dive and you’ve fallen in love with scuba diving, most people do! So, what do you do next?

Answer: Don’t waste good money on doing more Try Dives! We don’t mean don’t dive again, but this time spend 1 extra day and become a Padi Scuba diver!

Scuba Diver (2 days) & Open Water Diver (3 to 4 days) is your Next Step.

If you love the feeling of being under the water and want to visit diving locations, you have seen on the discovery channel or the blue planet? Then getting certified is the way to save money and get more from your diving.

The first level of scuba diving certification is the Padi Scuba Diver and Open water Diver. Once completed, as an Open water diver you’ll be able to go diving, with a buddy, up to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet. The PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized around the world, and it’s your ticket to a lifetime of scuba diving adventures.

The Open Water Diver Course is made up of three components, namely knowledge development (theory), confined water dives and open water dives.

How to use your Try Diving experience as part of your Scuba Diver / Open Water Diver Course.

When you are with The Waterhoppers and diving the crystal blue waters in Greece as part of our entry level program, Scuba diver. Your confined water dive and open water dive will count as the first confined water dive and open water dive of your Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver Course.

During every Discover Scuba Diving experience, you will complete the following skills in confined water:

  • Inflate and deflate your BCD at the surface
  • Breathe underwater
  • Regulator clearing
  • Regulator recovery
  • Partial mask clearing
  • Practice equalisation techniques

Then we will add a few more skill to make it count towards you getting certified as Diver. The best bit about doing the extra, it can all be done in one day and it builds your experience, knowledge, and level of relaxation!

These are the additional skills:

  • Don your scuba diving equipment (with assistance) and adjust to fit
  • Complete a pre-dive safety check with a buddy
  • Breathe from an alternate air source supplied by another diver for at least 30 seconds.
  • Descend at a controlled rate into water too deep in which to stand
  • Swim with scuba equipment while maintaining control of both direction and depth
  • Locate and read the submersible pressure gauge and signal whether the air supply is adequate or low based on the gauge’s caution zone and/or an assigned supply limit
  • Recognize and demonstrate hand signals
  • Ascend using proper technique
  • Stay within reach of a buddy
  • Swim facedown at the surface while breathing through a regulator or snorkel
  • After ascent, keep the mask on and continue breathing from the regulator while using the low-pressure inflator to attain positive buoyancy
  • Deflate the BCD, then orally inflate it until positively buoyant at the surface

Then you join us for a second day, they don’t need to be consecutive, do one dive in the morning, one dive in the afternoon and there you have it!

You are now a certified Padi Scuba Diver, for more info click here!

So why not join us for some diving in Greece, we would love to show you around and have you open the door to years of adventure!
